Nutritional value of wheatgrass juice

  • Wheatgrass reaches the peak of its nutritional value when it is about 18 cm high and 7–10 days old. During that period, wheatgrass accumulated energy, which soon after in natural conditions leads to massive rapid growth of the plant, and it is this energy that is transferred to the juice. When wheatgrass is squeezed, the energy evaporates and oxidizes quickly, so it is very important to drink or freeze it quickly to protect the juice from oxidation.

  • Due to its high nutritional value, wheatgrass juice is considered a complete meal. It contains beta-carotene and vitamins B, C, E, H, K, 90 different minerals and 19 amino acids. The juice contains more iron than spinach, more protein than meat, fish, eggs, beans, and dairy products.

  • Wheat juice consists of 70% chlorophyll, and its chemical composition is very similar to hemoglobin. Chlorophyll is good for cleansing the liver, helps regulate blood sugar levels and cleanses the body of accumulated toxins.

Growing wheatgrass at home

  • Try to find high quality wheat seeds or some other previously mentioned cereals. Soak it in water and leave it like that overnight. Let the seeds germinate in a jar for 16–24 hours, and during that period, wash them three times a day. When you see a short “tail”, sow them in plastic garden tubs for seedlings with holes. The seeds should not be deep in the ground, but more evenly covered with soil. In seven to ten days, the grass will grow 10-18 cm and will be dark green, and then you can cut it at a height of one centimeter from the ground. You can store it in the refrigerator for 7–14 days, but put it in a plastic bag to protect it. If you want a new amount of wheatgrass, repeat the process from the beginning with new seeds and soil. Wheat is an annual plant, so the first crop is the best. Of course, it will grow a second time if you leave it in the country, but it will have 50-75% less nutritional value.

  • Wheat juice can be consumed on a daily basis in small quantities, and it is recommended to start with 30 ml per day on an empty stomach. Wheat juice it extremely cleanses the body, so it can irritate your stomach if you start taking it in larger quantities immediately. You can gradually increase the dose, or you can continue with the amount you started with. Thanks to its multiple benefits, wheat juice is a real elixir of life and an extremely valuable addition to everyone's diet.
