Strudel with Apple Italian Way Lena

  • One of the most delicious Italian delicacies for me is this strudel with apple, delicious and juicy also healthy. It is quick to prepare, and it is not difficult. You need some an hour in total, here's how I prepare it. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time 50 min.

Dough:

  • Flour 00

  • 30 ml of water

  • 1 Tablespoon oil

  • 1 egg

  • pinch of salt

Fill:

  • 750 g golden apples cut into strips

  • 60 g of sugar

  • 60 g pretzels

  • 50 g butter

  • 50 g raisins

  • 25 g pine nuts, fried for 8 minutes in the oven

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

  • 2 Tablespoons rum

  • 1 lemon zest

Preparation:
  1. First, knead the dough: by pouring flour on a worktop and making one indentation to put the egg and other ingredients. Knead the dough well with your hands until you get a nice smooth dough, homogeneously.

  2. Then make a ball of dough and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

  3. Take the pine nuts in a small bowl and pour the rum over them.

  4. Meanwhile, take the pan and pour the butter, wait for it to melt, and then stir in the pretzels, mix well and fry the pretzels until they get a impressive brownish color. Remove from the heat and allow cooling slightly.

  5. When everything is ready, start making the mixture for the filling by peeling the apples and chopping them into thin slices. In a deeper bowl, pour the pine nuts that you have fried a little in the oven and mixed later with rum, raisin sugar, a teaspoon of cinnamon, and spoon of lemon peel, stir it all nicely.

  6. Take one baking paper, roll out the dough to a thickness of 3-5 mm. Then flatten the dough nicely, pour the breadcrumbs with melted butter, flatten it nicely from corner to corner of the dough. Spread the filling you have prepared all over the dough. Then spread the dough a little on all sides and wrap. So that the filling does not come out in half and start rolling your strudel together with the paper, transfer it to a baking tray and coat with melted butter, you can also use 1 egg yolk if you like.

  7. Bake at 200 °C for 30–35 minutes.
