Steak in Delicious Sauce

  • Fragrant steak in a beautiful tomato sauce, with the addition of thyme, coriander, onion, and garlic. My whole house smells of this wonderful scent. It is very easy to prepare and in a short time you have lunch ready. While baking this in the oven, you can prepare a side dish that goes best with white rice, polenta or boiled potatoes. I leave that choice to you. Steak of your choice in cheese sauce and tomato sauce, easy to prepare and quick to make. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: very easy, total time 55 min., 4 servings, baking dish 35 x 20 cm
  • 8 pieces of steak, pork, or beef or turkey/1 cm thick

  • 8 sheets of Gouda cheese or Edam cheese

  • 100 g mushrooms/ cut into leaves

  • 3 medium onions, finely chopped

  • 1 garlic cloves, finely chopped

  • 1 Tablespoon dry spice/Vegeta

  • 3 Tablespoons tomato sauce

  • 200-250 ml of water

  • 1 teaspoon red ground pepper

  • 3–4 Tablespoons of vegetable oil

  • 1 bay leave

  • 1/2 flat teaspoon thyme

  • 1 teaspoon coriander or parsley

  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:
  1. Prepare all the ingredients as described above.

  2. Season the steak, beat and arrange in an oiled refractory bowl. Cover each steak with a sheet of cheese.

  3. Pour the oil into a deeper pan and heat over a moderate heat. Add the finely chopped onion and simmer until soft and glassy for about 10 minutes. Then add finely chopped garlic clove, spices thyme, coriander a little salt, pepper and finally add dry spice /Vegeta. Immediately pour the tomato sauce mixed with a 200 ml of water. Mix everything well and cook for about 20 minutes. When the sauce has become relatively thick, turn off the heat and blend the mixture into the cream. It has to be a little thicker. And set aside.

  4. In another small pan, put a little oil and add the mushrooms to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Extinguish the fire as soon as the mushrooms get colored.

  5. In a small refractory pan where you have arranged the steaks, pour the blended sauce and then add the mushrooms and 1 bay leave. Gently mix the mushrooms into the sauce.

  6. Place in a preheated oven at 180 °C and bake for about 25–30 minutes. Add water while baking if necessary, I did add 120 ml of water.

  7. You can serve this dish with polenta, mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes or rice. Serve warm.

Buon appetito!!
