Proja-Serbian Bread

  • A simple and quick recipe for making proja (Corn Bread) in my way, you can combine it with other vegetables if you wish, I prefer this combination, because peppers give a great taste to this appetizer, as well as bacon. When salting, be careful not to over salt because bacon is already salty in itself. You can make them as muffins or as a loaf of bread. You only need 35 minutes to prepare it and sweeten it well, it is very tasty. Follow the recipe.

Ingredients: casserole round dish 35 -36 cm or muffins molds, cup -150 ml, very easy, 35 min., 10 servings
  • 150 g thinly diced bacon

  • 100 g of fresh cow cheese

  • 1 big red fresh pepper

  • 4 eggs

  • 2 cups of oil

  • 1/2 bag baking powder/5 g

  • 4 cups corn flour

  • 4 cups wheat flour

  • 4 cups of mineral water

  • salt to taste

  • sesame to taste

Preparation:
  1. Cut the paprika into small cubes, do the same with the bacon. Place in a deeper bowl and add the other ingredients from the description and mix well by hand until the mixture is well combined.

  2. Grease a 35-36 cm pan with a little oil, pour the mixture and flatten. Sprinkle with sesame the surface of your choice. Put to bake at 180 °C for about 25–30 minutes. Use a toothpick to check if the mixture is ready.

  3. Remove from the oven, cover with a clean cloth and allow cooling for about 15 minutes.

  4. Cut the proja (corn bread) into cubes according to your desire to serve hot and cold.
