The people of Trieste are fans of mashed potatoes. Even throughout the year, they organize competitions in cooking the best mashed potatoes! Compared to Serbia, they don't put paprika, but instead they put a special bacon from the pig's cheeks, which has a special taste. Ingredients: simple, total time: 55 min.
2-3 Tablespoon oil
1 onion / cut in half and sliced
4 large potatoes/ cleaned-and diced
150 g pork cheek bacon
salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
Peel the potatoes and cut them into pieces. Pour water into a medium pot, add 1 teaspoon of salt and potatoes. Cooked for about 30 minutes. When the potatoes are ready, drain them well in a colander and mash them with a fork.
Pour oil into a deep and large pan, wait for it to heat up, add diced bacon, cook until transparent.
Then immediately add the chopped onion, mix the ingredients well, wait for the onion to become glassy, then add the mashed potatoes, salt, and pepper to taste, stir in the pan and turn it on both sides to brown slightly. Control the taste and add more salt and pepper to taste. The potatoes are ready when they are slightly browned. Serve with schnitzel, liver and other dishes of your choice! Enjoy in bites!
