Original Hungarian Paprikash Stew as from restaurants

  • If you want to make Hungarian stew cording to the original recipe from a restaurant, then this is the right recipe. I will share with you how I make it. With this cooking procedure, you will save 30 minutes, so to speak, it cooks less than the usual stew that we are used to cooking. The taste is fantastic, it consists of a variety of vegetables, which gives it an incredibly good taste, and the addition of chicken drumsticks. Be sure to do it, and you will be very satisfied! Follow recipe.

Ingredients: very easy, preparing time: 10 min. cooking time: 65 min. total time 75 minutes
  • 8 chicken drumsticks

  • 8 larger potatoes/ chopped into smaller pieces

  • 3 large onions/ finely chopped

  • 1/8 celery root/ finely chopped

  • 1 parsnip/ finely chopped

  • 6 medium carrots/chopped into rings

  • 2 red fresh peppers/ cut into smaller cubes

  • 2–3 Tablespoons of fresh primrose/ finely chopped

  • 1.5 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon pepper

  • 1 Tablespoon dry spice/Vegeta

  • 2 teaspoons ground sweet red pepper

  • 1 teaspoon hot red ground pepper

  • 1 teaspoon shattered hot pepper

  • 4 Tablespoons of vegetable oil

For Dumplings:

  • 1 egg/ scrambled

  • 1 tsp dry parsley

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 4-5 Tablespoons flour

  • First prepare all the vegetables as described above!

  • Take a blender and grind all the vegetables without potatoes, so it will go faster!

Preparation:
  1. Put the chopped onion in the oil and fry it for 3–5 minutes until it softens, over a slightly moderate heat.

  2. Then add the washed chicken drumsticks and stir, cook for about 10 minutes.

  3. Put the chopped carrots, peppers together with the celery, parsnips, add enough water to cover the vegetables and cover the pot, cook for about 20 minutes on moderate heat.

  4. After the time has passed, take out the chicken drumsticks, reduce the heat and blend all the vegetables well so that the cream is homogeneous and compact.

  5. Return the drumsticks and add the potatoes cut into pieces, water to the desired density, (in this case I had about 3 liters) season with all the dry ingredients spices to taste and cook covered for another 25 minutes.

Dumplings

  1. During that time, beat 1 egg, add salt and add about 5 tablespoons of flour, beat the dough for rolls so that the dough is gooey, it must not be hard!

  2. When 25 minutes have passed, soak a small spoon in a cup of water and roll out the dough, pour in the paprikash stew, repeat several times until you have used up the material.

  3. Cover the pot and cook for another 5 minutes. Extinguish the fire and sprinkle with fresh chopped primrose.

  4. Serve warm in plates, and enjoy a good meal. Buon appetito!
