Lemon Kugloff
  • Lemon Kugloff is a dessert that is quick and easy to prepare. The taste and smell of this cake is irresistible, and the soft and chewy cake is ideal for all occasions. You can serve the cake with your morning coffee or tea. Instead of lemon, if you don't like it, you can replace it with an orange. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 70 min.
  • 200 g soft butter

  • 190 g granulated sugar

  • 1 bag vanilla sugar/ 10 g

  • 2 lemon zest/ grated

  • 4 eggs

  • 200 ml of sour cream/ or Greek yogurt

  • 360 g of plain flour

  • 40 g of corn starch

  • a pinch salt

  • 1 bag baking powder/ 10 g

  • mold for kugloff 25 x 7 cm

Decorating:

  • 5 Tbsp of powdered sugar

  • 2 Tbsp of lemon juice

Preparation:
  1. Cut the softened butter into pieces and place in a deep bowl, add sugar, lemon peel, granulated sugar and beat until foamy.

  2. Gradually add one egg at a time and beat at the same time.

  3. Add the sour cream and a pinch of salt and stir again.

  4. Sift flour, baking powder and starch in another bowl and mix. Gradually add the dry ingredients twice and combine the ingredients well.

  5. Grease the mold with butter and flour and distribute it on all sides.

  6. Place the greased mold in the refrigerator for 5–7 minutes, then pour the mixture evenly and level. Tap the mold on the work surface.

  7. Cover the cake with aluminum foil.

  8. Bake the cake at 180°C for about 60–65 minutes.

  9. After 35 minutes, remove the aluminum foil and bake until the end.

  10. Check the cake with a toothpick, if the dough is dry, it is ready.

  11. While the cake is baking, mix in icing sugar and lemon juice for decoration.

  12. Leave the finished cake to cool for a few minutes, then turn the mold onto a larger tray or plate.

  13. Use a spoon to decorate the cake and let the topping drip down.

  14. When the decoration has cooled down, you can serve the feta cake.
