How to make Homemade Broth

  • This homemade broth can be added to various dishes such as stews, soups, risotto or rice, as well as an addition to sauces. It is quick and easy to prepare. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 70 min.4 servings
  • 1 onion/ with peel

  • 1 big whole carrot/ cut in half and peeled

  • 1 celery stalk/ cut in few pieces

  • 1/4 whole celery root/ peeled

  • 2 whole garlic cloves) with peel

  • 1 full teaspoon dry spice/ Vegeta

  • pinch of salt

  • 1 liter of water

Preparation:
  1. Wash the vegetables well in warm water, then peel the carrots, celery, and parsnips.

  2. Do not peel the onion and garlic.

  3. Cut the stalk of celery and carrot into larger pieces.

  4. Put all the vegetables in a medium saucepan with 1 liter of water.

  5. Cook on moderate heat for about 40 minutes.

  6. In the meantime, add Vegeta dry seasoning and a little salt to taste.

  7. After some time, strain the liquid and use as an addition to another dish or for soup.



For Soup:

  1. Chop the cooked vegetables into small pieces, and peel the onions and garlic.

  2. Blend them together with 300 ml liquid and vegetables if you are making soup.

  3. Return the blended liquid to the pot, add more water to your taste, cook until it boils. Control taste, add spices as needed.

  4. Sprinkle with parsley or celery leaves.

  5. You can add a handful of cooked separately small pasta in your plate.

NOTE:

  • For a stronger aroma, you can add beef bones or smaller pieces of chicken, while cleaning the fat from the surface.

  • Broth or stock as addition for other dish is always used hot or warm, never cold.
