Homemade Vanilla

  • Beautiful and juicy vanilla that many loves. Serbian traditional cookies for Christmas days. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 80 min.
  • 200 g fat

  • 4 Tablespoons sugar

  • 1 bag vanilla sugar/ 10 g

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1 whole egg

  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice

  • lemon grated zest

  • 500 g flour

Preparation:
  1. Beat the fat with a mixer, then add the egg, sugar and vanilla sugar and beat the ingredients well. After that, add the rest of the ingredients and the flour gradually with a spoon and beat constantly until you get a compact dough. Place the dough on a floured surface and work it with your hands, then roll it around the dough to the desired thickness of 4 mm. Take out smaller molds with the help of a small brandy glass. Put the baking paper in the oven tray.

  2. Vanilla is baked at 180 °C for 10 min. Do not overcook, the oven can be reduced to 160-15 min °C. Spread cold vanilla with apricot jam, connect the rings and then roll in powdered sugar.

Ingredients:
  • 250 g margarine or butter

  • 500 g soft flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 7 Tablespoon granulated sugar

  • 20 g vanilla sugar

  • jam, marmalade, or apricot jam

  • powdered sugar

Bake on 180 °C 10 min. the oven can be reduced to 160 °C 15 min. Vanilla cookies must not be dark, it must be color white.

Ingredients:
  • 250 g of homemade lard

  • 4 Tablespoons sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 egg yolk

  • finely grated rind of 1 lemon

  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 500 g flour

  • 100 g of ground walnuts

  • about 200 g of powdered sugar for rolling

  • homemade apricot jam for spread

Preparation: is same like other recipe
  1. Mix well homemade lard with sugar, vanilla sugar, 1 egg yolk, 1 egg.

  2. Then after add lemon juice and grated rind of 1 lemon, mix well again. Do it with mixer.

  3. When you're done it, add walnuts mix again and slightly add flour, work with spatula after that do dough with your hands.

  4. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1 cm and add the molds with a brandy glass, that is the right measure. When you have made the rolls, put them in a preheated oven to bake at 180 °C for 10 minutes, no more because they must not darken, they must be more white beige.

  5. Then coat these rolls with a small spoon and combine them with another roll and roll them in powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar in one bag and put them in a tray, they are best after 2 days. They soften.
