Grandma Roll with Jam

  • The most beautiful and the simplest: Grandma's roll with jam, so delicious that not a single piece is left for tomorrow. Roll with jam is the first association for many people with childhood and grandmother's kitchen. This easy-to-make delicacy was a frequent choice of housewives in the last century, and today it is almost forgotten, although it is very tasty and everyone loves it. The recipe for preparing rolls with jam is so simple that even those who are not good at making cakes will succeed. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 35 min.
  • 5 eggs/ separated

  • 5 Tbsp of granulated sugar

  • 5 Tbsp of flour

  • 1 lemon peel/ grated

  • 1 bag of baking powder/10 g

  • 1/2 a jar of homemade jam of your choice

  • 100 g of powdered sugar for sprinkling

Preparation:
  1. Separate the yolks from the egg whites, then beat the egg whites with a mixer.

  2. When they start to separate from the sides of the bowl, add five spoons of granulated sugar and continue beating until they turn into solid snow.

  3. Then add egg yolks, flour, and baking powder to them, then gently combine everything with a spatula. The dough should be a little more liquid.

  4. Grease a rectangular pan, sprinkle with flour and gently pour the mixture for the roll.

  5. Bake in an oven heated to 200 °C, for about 15 minutes, that is, until the cake separates from the edges of the pan.

  6. Take the hot biscuit out of the pan and wrap it in a wet cotton cloth, then let it cool.

  7. Then remove the cloth, coat the roll with jam, then roll it up again, sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired and let it rest for at least two hours before cutting it into slices and serving.
