Beef Perkelt

  • Real Hungarian beef perkelt recipe, very delicious!! Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 2h and 40 min., 6 servings
  • 800 g of beef

  • 4 onions/ finely chopped

  • 4 Tablespoons tomato purée

  • water as needed

  • 3 Tablespoon oil/ or fat

  • 1 Tbsp of ground red pepper

  • 2 Tbsp flour

  • dry herbal spice/ Vegeta

  • chopped fresh parsley to taste

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 large pot

Preparation:
  1. Cut the meat into smaller cubes and place it on the heated oil to fry quickly on all sides. Reduce heat and add finely chopped onion.

  2. Sauté the meat and onion until everything softens well.

  3. Pour water to soak and simmer over low heat. After that, gradually add water as needed.

  4. When the meat softens, add tomato purée, dry herbal spice/Vegeta, and stir everything well.

  5. Add water as required, simmer until the meat is completely tender.

  6. Then mix the flour with a little water and add to the ingredients.

  7. Sprinkle with red ground paprika, season with salt and pepper to taste, simmer for a while.

  8. If necessary, add a little more water. This dish is cooked for about total 2h and 30 min.

  9. When the dish is almost ready, add freshly chopped parsley or celery leaves and turn off the heat.

  10. Serve boiled green beans with bacon and garlic with the perkelt or boiled potatoes. Serve warm. Buon appetit!
