Baklava with Poppy seeds

  • Baklava with poppy seeds is a Turkish delicacy that leaves everyone breathless. Soft and juicy, it is a real pleasure while consuming it. Easy to prepare and ready quickly! Read note 👇before preparing this cake.

Ingredients: baking dish 20 x 30 cm, simple, total time: 60 min. 12 baklava
  • 500 g of thin crusts/ 1 pack

Filling:

  • 5 eggs

  • 400 g of ground poppy seeds

  • 2 cups of granulated sugar

  • 1 cup of oil

  • 1 cup of yogurt

  • 1 bag baking powder/ 10 g

Syrup:

  • 700 ml of water

  • 1. 5 cups of granulated sugar

  • 1 lemon/ cut into rings

  • Cook for about 10 minutes.

  • 20×30 baking sheet

  • lubricating oil

Preparation:

Syrup:

  1. Make the syrup by pouring the water, sugar, and lemon wedges into a small saucepan, boil the syrup until it thickens.

  2. After boiling, cook for another 8-10 minutes. Let it cool.

Filling:

  1. Beat eggs with sugar until foamy, until the mixture is lighter. Add yogurt, oil, baking powder, mix again. At the end, add ground poppy seeds and mix everything well.

Processing:

  1. Brush the pan with oil on all sides.

  2. Place the crust so that one part is inside and the other outside.

  3. Apply 3 spoons of the filling on the crust, fold it over with the crust that is on the outside and coat it with the filling. Push the crust inside.

  4. Repeat this procedure for the rest of the crust, leaving the last two crusts that are not spread, but are smeared only with oil.

  5. After that, cut it into equal cubes and put it to bake.

  6. Bake to 180 °C, 30 minutes.

  7. Pour the cold syrup evenly over the hot baklava and allow it to cool completely.

NOTE:

  • You can use a 40×30 cm baking dish, but your baklava will be lowed.

  • With this recipe, you can combine poppy seeds with plasma (50/50), or poppy seeds with ground nuts (50/50), poppy seeds with raisins (70/30).

  • The measure of the glass is 200 ml.

  • Store baklava in a cool place 7 days, covered with transparent foil.
